Your little hands wrapped around my finger and its so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eye lids flutter cause your dreamin so I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light
To you everything's funny, you've got nothing to regret
I'd give all I have hunny, if you could stay like that
Oh darling dont you ever grow up, dont you ever grow up, just stay this little
Oh darling dont you ever grow up dont you ever grow up, it could stay this simple
I wont let nobody hurt you, wont let no one break your heart, no one will desert you
Just try to never grow up
"Ain't" just because it makes people sound 'not smart'.
"Irregardless" why not just say regardless... it's the same thing!!!

I also cringe when I hear people say words incorrectly. Example: "Across" It is not pronounced "acrosst" or "acrossed". There is no "t" or "-ed" in "across" so don't say it with one!

Or when people get "affect" mixed up with "effect"... they really do have two seperate meanings!

Oh how about when people say Libary instead of Library. We have a street in town and when people call with problems the call it Armagosa and its actually Amargosa.

"moist" and all slang for female genitalia makes me cringe.
I don't know if this is something specific to NY and the tri-state area, but I can't stand when people pronounce "ask" as "acks", as in "I acksed him to do something for me." It's like nails on a chalkboard to me!
Also can't stand it when "mischievous" is pronounced as "mis-chee-vee-ous".

When you type "sherbert" into google, it says "did you mean sherbet?"
Dictionary.com has it listed as an alternate spelling for Sherbet, but it is also listed in the 100 most commonly misspelled words in the English language.
The debate rolls on. My take is that because it has been misprounounced for so long, it has started to be an accepted spelling/pronounciation.
I very well may be wrong, but it still annoys me. lol

I was totally thinking this except I always think of it as "ax" instead of "ask" when I hear it.
I also hate hearing the word "athleticism" when I am watching sports. I mean I guess it is a real word but it never sounds to me like it should be!
Re: Non-Clicky Poll: What word makes you cringe?
I hate the word moist too! But the word that makes me really cringe is "crotch". I can't stand it.
REFLUX!!!
And:
Compost
The C word that rhymes with Bunt

I hate the word moist as well, but I have to say it at least 10 times a day for my job. Yuck.
I also hate the *c* word, and oddly the word cloth.

Lover. There's really never a good reason to tell someone that he's your lover, or to call your SO "lover".

moist
Ugh. And "ambalance" for ambulance.
Here it's usually spelled Sorbet, but we still say Sherbert. That has always confused me...just like saying baloney when it's spelled balogna!

the p word referring to a vagina
Midwifery.
I had LO at a midwifery center and always felt silly saying it.I'd rather pronounce it with the long "i" sound instead of like mid-WIFF-ery.
Nipple. I hate that word!
I also hate any slang for the female genitalia.
Hate both of these!!
Hmm...I am sure I could think of a ton, but the one that comes to my mind most easily is "lance" - as in having a cyst or boil lanced.
:::shudders:::
Sorbet and sherbert both exist

I also hate when people refer to Soda as Pop. It drives me nuts!
