For me the Moby and Ergo complement each other - the moby was perfect for the first few months where the ergo didn't work well for me (even with the heart to heart infant insert), we just weren't comfortable in the ergo then. Now the moby is too stretchy for her weight but the ergo is super easy and she loves to be in it.
The moby will last you up til about 15lbs before it starts to get uncomfortable, but it is really great for newborns.
If you find that you like the moby then the next carrier you might want to invest in is a woven wrap. If you don't like the moby then the ergo would be a way to go.

I actually have both a Bj?rn and a Beco and find them useful for different purposes. But if I hadn't received the Bj?rn as a hand-me-down present as my first carrier, I would probably have found that the Beco was enough. It works both front and inward facing and it is easy to adjust for DH. I found that Moby-type wraps were too difficult to figure out when DD was tiny and she did well in the Bj?rn. But I do envy the people who are able to use woven wraps and their like :-)
Single mom of DD (2010), TTC #2 since June 2013.
Occasionally I'm blogging about my life with flybaby.
I have a Moby and Bjorn, and I like them for two different purposes. I like the Moby when I'm wearing DD around the house or for long periods of time; I can adjust her to different positions in the same wrap, and therefore wear her (happily) for longer. She also loves to nap in the Moby, and I feel good about her napping in there because I can tuck her head under the cloth so it's more supported. I like the Bjorn when we're out and about; it's easier to put on/take off quickly and easier to take with me. Also, when we're doing something more active (walks, hikes, etc...) I prefer the Bjorn because I feel like she is more secure.
I think the one you pick will depend on how you're using it.

This exactly.
