Baby washcloths...Do I really need them?

Is it really necessary to have baby washcloths? 

Are the regular ones just too heavy?

Nah, not necessary.  We use them, but you can use regular ones just as well.

You can use regular ones, but they are pretty thick and real big for a newborns tiny body.

I hope they're necessary I got legit 40 of them at my baby shower.  We'll probably use the cheap ones as rags once they start getting ratty.  But some of them are sooo cute and seem like they'll hold up

Just as a tip,I use them to help when changing my son so as not to get peed on! I use two at each bath. Regular w/c are too rough and big for my preference. GL with the rest of your pregnancy!

I think when they are tiny (like for the first few weeks/months especially) the baby washcloths are nice to have because they are so small and easy to use on a small body. However, I would spend a little extra and get the Carter's brand of washcoths because those are really soft and stay soft. The other thinner cheaper ones are not as soft and pretty crappy actually-like the ones from Target. Just my experience with those.

THIS! I went through about 100 of these a week. Open diaper, quickly place washcloth over teeny, tiny wee-wee, save yourself from getting peed on.

Not necessary. In fact, I really don't like them . . . they are too little IMO.

peeking in from 2nd tri but I've had two babes already and I just now am regularly using baby washcloths the regular ones are too big/heavy for the boys to wash themselves but the baby ones are great.

 When the boys were babies I used those disposable ones that have the soap in them already LOVED them and they are super soft.

Me too!  We didn't register for any washcloths and ended up getting boatloads of them, for some reason.  Weird randomness.

I like to have them because DD has super sensative skin so we have to use the free and clear detergent, no stain removers and no bleach for all of her things.  Our regular towels and washclothes are white and get bleached.  Having the baby washclothes makes sure that they stay with DD's laundry and never get mixed in with ours.

We still use them for baths and also for wiping hands/faces after meals.  The only things I am buying new for this baby are more washcloths and a new changing pad cover.

I just asked DH who actually does the baths and he still wouldn't switch to regular w/cs for DS because the only parts that he actually uses the w/c on are still "small". Also they take up less room in your linen closet and less laundry.
