vent- no need to reply

i used to work at a school with toddlers and i didn't realize just how great that school was until i started looking for schools by our house (the one i worked for was a bit of a commute).  NONE of the schools ive checked out compare to where I worked.

I have communicated with my old boss to see if by the time LO qualifies for the toddler classrooms if she thinks there might be an opening.  So far its all totally up in the air but most likely it probably wont work out.  Im a little bummed but still holding on to some hope.  Theres no way we could afford to send LO there unless I worked there too...or if i found another great paying job!  Plus if something opened up and I got a job there now..id have to put LO in a different daycare until she was ready to be at the school...and Im not a fan of that.

I guess im just spoiled now and dont want my LO to go anywhere else but there....and i worry that if i do have to send her somewhere else im not gonna be happy with it and i will always see the negatives.

i just hope something works out and i could get a job with them by the time we want to get LO into school.

  • Can I say this has not fallen on deaf ears. When my son was little I had him in every daycare within my patrol district. They were horrible or cost too much. There were ones my son would come home beaten, slapped, punched, kicked, bit, and the last straw were bruises at the base of his skull. This was by the time he was 3. It mattered very little that I was a cop to them. I was working my shift and 3-4 other extra jobs as security to cover his daycare costs, medical bills, house bills, you get the idea.

Now that I have a good daycare for my son I'm not leaving it. I finally found one that HE likes going to and doesn't want to come home from playing at in the summer. Emma is there as well and is happy. My babies don't come home hurt and this next baby will be there as well.

I can appreciate what a gem a great daycare is and will pay whatever to make sure they stay there.

I hope something can be worked out for you so your LO can be at a school you approve of. Good luck.

  • Just wanted to say good luck to you and persevere, try try try to get your spot back and get him into that good school.

I teach elementary school and I only went back to my job because of the school that I am at.  It is an amazing, positive work environment and that is reflected in the success and balanced, positive children at the school.  It is the only place I've worked that I would want my kids to go to someday and if I work there then they can, regardless of boundaries.

We found a great daycare in the meantime, until they are old enough for kindergarten which will be quite awhile yet.  Could you ask at the school you really love, if there is somewhere else they might recommend, someplace you might not have thought about?
