We have an event we need to go to this Saturday and I got a recommendation from a friend on using the website www.sittercity.com
She works at a children's hospital and she said a lot of the women she works with use the website. I went on it last night and you have to pay to join to actually get phone #'s and email addresses of the people providing nanny or babysitting services. It also has reviews of individual people and background checks which I liked. The reviewers have to be members and pay the monthly fee in order to write reviews, so it's not likely it friends of hers. Also there are plenty of bad reviews so it's not like the reviews are only positive.
I emailed 4 of the women who met my search criteria and 1 was available this Saturday and I just got off the phone with her and she seemed great! She has references I can call also.
Has anyone used this website or known someone who has? I'd feel even better if someone I knew could give me a thumbs up...
Thanks in advance for your help!
Re: Anyone used SitterCity?
I found a great sitter for my older 2 kids (while I was pregnant) from SitterCity.
I would recommend having her come over for awhile while you are home (go do housework or something) so you can see how she interacts with your baby (since the baby can't tell you how it goes when you're gone).
I've used it a bunch! Just do your homework (order the background check and call the references, etc.).
We've been very happy with the 3 or 4 people we found through the site.
