Infertility

WWIFD?

Ok, so my nurse and RE are trying to coordinate my schedule.  My RE is going to an IF conference at the end of October and wants to be the only RE to handle my care.

DH and I are going to Cabo November 20th - 25th.

My nurse emailed me to start Lupron on October 16th.  Based on me starting AF 4 days after stopping BCPs and me stimming for 13 days (which is how it went my last two times on this protocol) my beta won't be until after I return from Cabo.

Now, every trip I have taken this year - I have been in the 2ww.  So no drinking for me.  I would prefer to go to Cabo and be able to enjoy a drink, if I am not pregnant.  I would prefer to not take PIO in Cabo if I am not pregnant.

Should I request that we start a week sooner?  I feel like I have been bugging my RE and nurse lately and I don't want to be that patient.

What do you ladies think?

Re: WWIFD?

  • So if you start a week sooner does that mean a week less of BCPs?  I guess if I could keep my protocol exactly the same, just start a week earlier then I would ask, if it meant changing my protocol at all I would just deal with it.  Sorry not sure if that helps.

Yes, it would just be a week less of BCPs - right now, it looks like I will be on BCPs for 40 days!!  It would be 33 days instead.

  • Yikes 40 days of BCPs!  Holy heck!  In that case I would ask to start a week sooner unless they have a really good reason for 40 days of BCPs.

I questioned it - my RE is not concerned with oversupressing me.

I am just worried that I am being a pest.

  • I have a similar situation in October where I would be running into a business trip the week I would most likely start stims, so I asked the RE if I could just be on BCP a week longer - he didn't have a problem with it.  So now I am doing 28 days instead of 21.

It doesn't hurt to ask.  Have fun in Cabo BTW!  Its simply amazing there!

TTC Child #1 Sept '08, Dx: Unexplained, DOR 2 IUI's = BFN, m/c, IVF 1 = 0 embies to put back, IVF 2 = BFN, IVF 3 = cancelled, IVF 4 = BFP with 1 embie. Our son came into our life on 9/28/11. We are in love! Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I would absolutely request it. Don't worry about bugging them. You are the patient and have every right to ask. I don't blame u for not wanting to be intge 2ww on vacay.

  • Go ahead and ask... you're paying them a lot of money for this.  Besides, scheduling cycles is one of the only perks with going through IF.  It's like a consolation prize.  Okay Okay, don't flame me, I know it's a bad joke!
