What do they call him for short?  Or don't they?

 

I like the name, but love the option to shorten to one syllable (esp for a boy).

I like the name Sawyer, no nickname. I haven't heard one and can't think of one that wouldn't be awful.

Might have to nn his middle name?  Or just stick with Sawyer. You want a one syllable nn? Would you call him Saw?

I know a Sawyer. The name is cute and they didnt give him a nn.

My mom has a 2-year-old Sawyer at her daycare. They call him Soy sometimes, and Soy-Boy and Soy-Joy for fun. (I doubt the last two will stick, though).

Just FYI---Sawyer is extremely hard for young children to pronounce. The more proficient speakers can manage "Soy-yuh," but so many kids struggle out "So-ruh."

Even if you didn't call him Soy his whole life, it would be worth shortening for his first few years.

I've been running into the same problem...My DH added this name to our list and I fell in love with it, but I don't want people shortening it to "Soy", which I feel is inevitable.
