Is it common to have a late period after stopping clomid?

Hi all, I'm mostly just a lurker but have a question I'm hoping one of you can answer.

Did anyone have a late period the month after they stopped taking clomid? I only took it for 2 months and this last month was my first month off of it and I'm 2 days late. We've been trying for 22 months so I'm not wanting to get my hopes up for no reason and would just like to know if this is a common thing? Maybe my body getting back to normal? Thanks!

  • I have heard of it extending your luteal phase, thus making your period late. But, if you are 2 days late, it can't hurt to take a test.

  • My LP has always been shorter unmedicated then medicated (ie. on Femara my LP was 15 days, unmedicated it was 13).  That said, if you don't know when you ovulated, or even if you ovulated unmedicated that will complicate things.  Also, for me I always o'd earlier medicated then unmedicated too. SO long story short, lots of factors go into it :)

  • I don't know how common it is, but it extended mine by about 4 days.  We've been trying about the same amount of time as you, so I know what you mean by not getting hopes up for no reason.  Unfortunately I was not so smart and wasted more tests than necessary, ugh.

  • My LP was much longer on Clomid and right after I stopped taking it. Good luck.
