Preemies

Need your help

I posted here a couple weeks ago about joining you. We are so glad that our Nolan is still baking but it really is just a waiting game at this point...he could arrive any day. I've posted a lot about this on the December board so if you're curious, you can read more there or PM me. But enough about me...

I shared with my December ladies that I have a real desire to do something for those in our local NICU. In addition to raising money to help with hospital bills, utilities, etc, I am also putting together baskets for the families with items for the baby and parents. Many of the people in my community have volunteered their goods and services to the baskets and I am so touched! I was wondering if you might be able to help me come up with a list of things to go in the baskets.

So far, we've got...

Items for baby:

Preemie outfit

Booties

Knitted beanies

Small quilts

Small blankets

Items for parents:

Chapstick

Tissues

Notebook and pens

Snacks

Letter of encouragement

What else?? TIA!!

  • What a nice idea!

Some additional items for parents - disposable camera to leave at bedside (for nurses to take pictures with when parents aren't there), maybe a roll of quarters for vending machine or small gift cards to local fast food restaurants, lotion.

  • i always feel the need to have some good healing hand lotion because after all the hand washing my skin feels horrible....they bled at a certain point.

and gums and mints. there are times that i'll step out for coffee and i come back to be with my baby and i swear he hates my coffee breathe. so i always have gum on hand.

  • What a great idea! I love what you already have, but I would suggest adding some crossword puzzle books to the list. A friend of mine got some for me while I was in the hospital on bedrest and it really helped pass the time.
