Baby Names

I need help!

Okay, so I'm waiting to find out what I'm having. Is that crazy or not? I'm having a hard time chosing names. I don't want something popular or over used SO much, because I work with kids everyday I have 3 kids with the same name. It gets confusing, I don't want my son/daughter going through that when they are in school. I have a few names I like, I don't LOVE them though.

Girl Names:

Ella, Ava, Faith, Hope, Faye, Lena, Emily/Emilee, Paige, Holli, Skyler, Annabelle, Isabella, Alexa, Gwen, Brooke, Jordyn, Lindsay/Lyndsey, Olivia, Molli, Makenzie/Kenzie, Hannah, Bianca.

Boy Names:

Jacob, Bradley, Kasey, Lance, Blake, Ethan, Walter, Henry, Cole, Zander, Derek/Derrick, Eric/Erik, Bret/Brett, Colton, Ryan, Isaiah, Preston, Dean, Lyric, Jett, Reid/Reed, Macon, Evan, Trent/Trenton.

I'd love you're opinions, please!

Re: I need help!

  • You've got some good names in there, but some are REALLY popular. You probably want to avoid these: Ella, Ava, Emily, Isabella, Olivia, Makenzie, Jacob, and Ethan.

Of what's left: I'd cut out the girl names that look trendy to me: Holli, Molli, and Jordyn. The 'i' on the end of Holly/Molli makes me want to pronounce it: Holl-EYE. As for Jordyn, I can't stand the trendy -yn ending.

Boys: I prefer Casey. Not a fan of Preston, Lyric, Jett, or Macon at all.

So my girl choices are: Faith, Hope or Annabelle

    Boy: Reid, Evan, or Ryan.

  • I'm trying to stay away from 'K' names, but I like Kasey spelled with a 'K' and not a 'C'. I don't know why, but I do.

Holli and Molli are trendy names? I didn't know that. Thanks for telling me.

I really love the names Hope and Ethan, now that I think about it. Ethan is how high on the Popular Name list?

Not if you use the correct spellings ...

  • I'm not sure Holly and Molly are trendy but the way you have them spelled is. I know a Mollie, which I think is cute butwith just the i on the end it looks off.

  • My favorites are:

Girls: Ava, Emily, Gwen (full name Gwyneth or Gwendolyn), Hannah, Molly (this spelling), Faith (as a middle name only)

Boys: Jacob, Bradley, Ryan, Reid, Evan

As pp mentioned though, you may want to reconsider some names on your list if popularity is important to you.

Will look into other names, but I'm leaning towords Lyric as a boys name. It isn't very popular so I figured what the hell!

  • Avoid (because of popularity): Ella, Ava, Emily, Isabella, Olivia, Makenzie; Jacob, Ethan, Cole, Colton.

Possible: Faith, Hope, Fae (spelled this way), Lena, Paige, Alexa, Brooke, Jordan (spelled this way), Lindsay, Molly (spelled this way), Hannah; Henry, Erik, Bradley, Casey (spelled this way), Blake, Xander (spelled this way), Ryan, Brett, Preston.

Great: Holly (spelled this way), Schuyler (spelled this way), Annabelle, Gwen (perhaps lengthened to Gyneth, Gwendolen, or Guinevere?), Bianca; Lance, Walter, Derek, Isaiah, Reid, Dean, Trenton.

Please don't use: Lyric (it's a girl's name); Jett (not as cool as you think); Macon (sounds like bacon).

ETA: As someone who works with children, you should know what a PITA it is for children and adults alike when parents misspell names. Why would you alter the original spelling? It's unnecessary and confusing.
