Kolcraft Countours Options II

OK, I went back to Babies R Us withthe intentions of buying the Sit N Stand Double. I didnt get it get it because I feel its a POS. Very flimsy and not very strudy.

I checked out the Kolcraft counours and it was much better. That are your thoughts on it? I looked it up online and they have a newer Options II. Just checking to see if those who have it like it (pros/cons) thanks

  • It is nice, but really l-o-n-g.  Did you test it out, fold it and see if you can lift it?

It weighs 44 lbs with out kids and car seats.

  • Too heavy and too long for my taste. And the seat configs have limitations on them (if seats are facing each other they both cannot be fully reclined - if you have an older child, their legs will kick other child).  Also the seats do not seem big enough for taller children. I hated the feel of the fabric.

  • Thank you! This is great feedback. Keep it coming. Im having a heck of a time finding an affordable double stroller that suits my needs.

  • I wasn't impressed with that stroller.  We went with the Baby Jogger City Mini Double, but also considered the Baby Jogger City Select, which is tandem like the Kolcraft.  Good Luck!
  • Hated it- DS is only 1 1/2 and he was too tall for it.  Sold it and spent 500$$  on a nice one- and both DH and I are glad we did.
  • Have you looked at the Baby Jogger city mini double?  It costs a little bit more, but is totally worth it to have a stroller that is not a PITA!

Trust me, I really wanted to love this stroller. I was practically convinced based on the website. But then I saw it in person and it was ginormous and heavy. Then I started to change the seat configs around like the website demo...which is when I started to see potential problems if you have taller than average children (my son is 97th percentile height).

That said - I was able to buy a barely used double Maclaren techno for $175 and I can't wait to use it.  I have a single Mac and you just can't beat how light they are.  But it's a side by side.  A narrow one, but still a SBS, so some aisles and doorways might be tight.

If your heart is set on a tandem - I would seriously consider spending a bit more for a higher end stroller if you can. I have the P+T's explorer on order (should arrive tomorrow!) and I sold a Bugaboo Bee to afford it.  But at the same time, if I take good care of it, it should retain it's resale value.

I would determine if you want a tandem or SBS first, then demo everything you can get your hands on. If you like a higher end double, check Craigslist, eBay or local better consignment shops which stock baby gear. Like I did w/the used Mac, you might have luck.  If you do take the plunge w/higher end, know that a LOT of the better ones do hold their value so consider selling it one day when your DC are done with the double.

  • I totally agree with the others, I thought this one was way too big and heavy and hard to open/close.  Same with the Chicco Together.  Based on their websites, I was SURE one of these was the perfect stroller for me... until I saw them in person.  I was dead set against a side by side but after test driving both the tandem and side by side, I was convinced.  We ended up going with the BJ City Mini Double and what a difference!  So much lighter and compact and easy to steer.  And the easiest fold on the market.  Definitely check that one out.
