TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Update on RE visit #2

DH and I both LOVED her. She's younger than the first RE (probably late 30s) and less of a "rockstar" in the NYC fertility clinic world, but she's at an excellent practice (I looked at the two best clinics in the city, with virtually identical stats). We really felt comfortable with her manner and approach, felt like our hands were held a bit more (which we need), and have a better sense of what the plan is, why, and which methods she thinks will work for us.

She said there may be an issue with one of my tubes, so we're running an HSG, and strongly suspects that DH may have some sperm count issues, thought we fortunately know that he does have sperm, at the very least. DH totally wanted to work with her immediately after the appointment, but I mulled the decision over for the rest of the day to make sure I was fully confident in it.

Ultimately, I felt like I was staring at a giant blinking clock that counted down to IVF after meeting the first doctor, while I felt like there was a real shot some less invasive methods would work after meeting with the second. As DH and I are not financially, emotionally, mentally, or physically ready for IVF right now, I would rather work with a doctor who makes me feel confident in the methods we *are* trying, rather than feel like I'm frittering time away until we get to the real solution.

I'm actually feeling somewhat hopeful for the first time in months!

Re: Update on RE visit #2

  • She sounds wonderful!  I would always rather be with a non-rockstar who actually has the time, energy and interest in my care.  I have really high hopes for you guys!
