What do you have in your Daycare bag?

Ok yes I know this is a odd question but Mr.A has not been to "daycare" for almost a year (when I had taken some classes). I am starting to Teach Sunday School so he will be in the nursery for 2 hours & I need to have a bag with all his stuff labeled just like you would for Day care ... but what is "all the stuff"?

I don't want to be the mom who over packs but I also don't want to be the one who doesn't pack enough.

thanks

Re: What do you have in your Daycare bag?

  • I pack two changes of pants and shirts, one extra pair of socks, diaper cream, extra diapers and wipes (just cause they are in there already), sunscreen, tylenol and pacifiers. I also pack a hat depending on the season, sun hat for summer, warm hat for winter.

  • His cloth diapers and a wetbag, extra set of clothes, oragel (when he's teething) and seasonal stuff (sunscreen, hat/gloves, jacket).

  • If it is a 2 hr church childcare, I would just do similar to what you'd put in your diaper bag for a 2 hr outing- a change of clothes, any drink/snack if it is necessary, diapers & wipes, diaper cream if you think he needs it that day & if they go outside, whatever he'd need for outdoor play. I'm assuming there isnt a nap or anything but if there was, a lovey or blanket or paci or whatever helps him nap.
  • DD is at daycare 2 days/week, so we just leave several complete outfits there as well as 2 pairs of socks. She also has sunscreen in her cubby, and we have diapers and wipes there. Her bag is pretty empty actually :) We really only send a bag because we need a way to transport her milk and stuff, and any dirty clothes that may be coming home.

We send labeled sippies of milk, her spare lovey, a paci, and a jacket. Sometimes I include plastic bags in case of diaper explosions (we've had several). We don't really have them give her any medicine or use diaper rash cream.

  • You should ask the day care what they provide.

We provide diapers, wipes, diaper cream (to be used per our directions), and a change of clothes. Other kids bring their own blanket but DD doesn't have a blankie or lovey.

Our day care provides everything else - cups, utensils, bibs, etc.

  • On Mondays we bring everything for the week.  His sleepy stuff (blanket, snuggly), sippy cup and sun hat stay at DC all week.  It all goes home Friday to be washed.

Permanently in the bag is 2 changes of clothes, and his outdoor clothes of course.

we don't have to worry about feeding utensils as they provide all meals and eating instruments (other than sippys)

ETA: Diapers/diaper cream are kept in a storage bin each child has over the diaper changing station.  We replenish as needed.

  • He doesn't take a bag but has a cubby with stuff at daycare. He has diapers, wipes, butt cream, tylenol, kleenex, change of clothes, hat and sunblock.

  • The only thing we bring back and forth each day is her lunch and fresh snacks and refills for the things she keeps at daycare.  We keep at daycare: dry snacks (like Cheerios or crackers), a sun hat, a sweater/coat for when they go out if she needs an extra layer, sunscreen, two changes of outfits (top, bottom and socks), diapers, diaper cream, wipes, a familiar blanket and stuffed animal for naptime.  They provide and launder bibs.
  • It's interesting reading this--I teach in a pre-K/K classroom and our LO has just started attending a little preschool twice a week & I'm surprised that you all are allowed to keep things like sunscreen, diaper cream, tylenol, etc. in your child's bags.  With little ones around, anything that reads "Keep out of reach of children" needs to be locked up or kept out of reach.  We can't give a child any medicine or anything (including diaper cream or sunscreen) without express written permission by the parent.

I'm just mentioning it because you might want to check what the licensing rules are where you are.

At our daycare, each child has a childproof box for diaper supplies kept in the diapering area which is separate from where the kids play.  The sunscreen is kept in there also.  And we sign a permission form on the first day saying they are allowed to apply sun screen and diaper cream.

Truly, the only thing in her "bag" is her lunch.

Medicine needs a special additional permission form and is kept in the director's office (it's a small center with only two big rooms).   Luckily we've never needed to send anything in, so I'm not sure what all they give.  We're part of a parochial school, so there is a school nurse who might come over to give meds.
