Need tips/advice to help 3.5 year old wipe his own hiney

After DS was potty trained, he wiped his own hiney pretty good.  Then a couple months ago, he got lazy and ended up with lots of skid marks so I started wiping him again because it was clear that he wasn't doing it at all.

Any suggestions about how to get him to properly wipe his own hiney clean?  I've told him that he needs to keep wiping till he doesn't see anymore brown/green/whatever color his poop is that day but that isn't sinking in.

  • Oh I need this advice too.  My boys won't do it themselves but I want to move them in that direction!

  • have him try using the charmin wipes, or baby wipes, that helps - and its easier to clean

We use the wet wipes too.

    And stickers.

He wipes and they yells "Mommy, come check me!"

If I wipe and find nothing he gets a sticker on a poster by the potty.  If he didn't do a good job I finish up and tell him he can try again next time.

No end goal... just a paper full of stickers.

For some reason it works for both of them!

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • i haven't even started to have him wipe himself yet... he has tried a few times and it's not so great... i need to start having him try.  We use flushable wet wipes on him.
