I talked to my doctor about getting ready to TTC and I asked her about PNV's. She told me I should "start taking them 2 months prior to conception". If only I could predict that! lol. I'll just keep taking them...
So weird- every doc is different. Mine said just to take Women's One-A-Day until actually conceiving. Makes me think it doesn't **really** matter, or they don't know!!!!
Carollyn's right - very doc say something different. I started taking mine exactly 100 days before I got married - i ran out in Mx, haha. I say build up now!!!
Yep, every doctor is different. Mine said that it wouldn't hurt to start taking them up to a year prior. I'm not BFing and he told me to continue them through the end of this year at my PP appointment which will be 5 months after C was born. Most books that I've read seem to say to take them 3 months prior to TTC.

My doctor told me the same thing basically, she said I could take a regular multivitamin up until 2 months prior to TTC. She also said the most important one is folic acid and I should make sure I take a separate folic acid. I also asked her about the DHA pills and she said I don't need to take those at all. Honestly in the time of the internet and such access to so much information, it's all so confusing. I knew I need to take folic acid, but I thought the DHA was really important also. ::sigh:: I have to trust my doctor though.
DHA is important for brain and eye development so if you start taking it once you get your BFP you should be good. Plus, none of our moms took it and we turned out ok!

That's very true! There's just so much information, so many opinions... enough to make a total "planner" like me crazy. I make a plan to make a plan. lol.
This post reminded me I have to make my annual appt. I'm scared to go. I have a feeling I'm going to get scolded for stopping the BCP even though we aren't TTC, especially because I'm starting to have symptoms again.

I always remind myself of this too! For me, I'm taking a pre-natal and will probably take DHA once I get a BFP - but if we ate a balanced healthy diet I'm sure these would both be totally unnecessary. My big thing is that I want to avoid processed foods and stay away from things like BPA, etc. This is more recent junk in our diets that our previous generations did not have, and it doesn't seem like the affects of them are completely understood.
