My cousin is pregnant and her and her dh had decided not to find out the sex, although she really wanted to. Well, last week she was admitted to the hospital because she was having contractions (she's 33 weeks). She was discharged and is now on bedrest, but said that they had her hooked up to a monitor where she could see the baby the whole time, so she now knows the sex (she's not telling though). Have you ever heard of a monitor like that?
Re: Have you ever heard of this...
It sounds like a load of bull to me.
Even if she was hooked up to some monitor that showed a picture of the baby (highly unlikely), I doubt she'd be able to tell the sex of her baby from it with her untrained eye. U/S techs have to look all over to find the right position to see that kind of view, so it just sounds like a load of bull to me.
That's kinda what I think. I just don't even know what the purpose of something like that would be. If it was an ultrasound machine, why would it be on her all the time? I just wasn't sure.
They sometimes do a profile on babies that includes an ultrasound and an NST.
When I had my 20 week u/s with DD2, the tech took a still and I was nearly positive it was a girl from looking at that still. But she was spread eagle, butt down and you could clearly see the three lines. No way could I tell on a moving u/s screen. I'd guess she maybe saw something, asked the tech and the tech confirmed.
