Question for BF mamas

MH and I are going to a wedding this weekend and will be away from LO for about 8-9 hours. Should I bring a pump to the wedding?!? LOL. I will need to pump at least 2 times...has anyone done this? Seems kinda silly but I don't think there is another option :)

Re: Question for BF mamas

  • are you close to the wedding party? if so i would check and see if there will be a room that you can use to pump and maybe even a fridge where you can store the milk (assuming it's in a hotel). otherwise you'll have to use the hotel bathroom and bring a cooler w/you which isn't really convenient. i've honestly never gone anywhere for an extended period of time where i've had to pump, except for work, in which case i just brought it w/me.  it does seem a little silly to bring it to the wedding but there isn't really any way around it!! :)

  • Oooh good suggestion, Jaime! I hadn't thought about using the bridal party room. That is probably what I'll end up doing.
  • I went to a wedding and had to do this! I didn't want to bother the bride (she had just had a m/c and was still getting over it) so I just pumped in the car. It was dark out and I parked far from the other cars. It was fine! I bought my little cooler that came with the pump and has an ice pack in it. However, if you can ask the wedding party for a better place, that would be ideal!

  • Ditto on pps. If you can use a dressing room of some sort, it would be best...otherwise it's the bathroom or your car. I personally would go for the dressing room first, then car. I don't like bathroom too much cuz other guests will see/hear you when they use the restroom. I nurse often in the car so I think pumping in the car isn't too bad either. Just make sure to get a car adapter or bring batteries if your pump takes batteries. If it's during the day, you can also utilize your nursing cover if you don't want ppl to see you. GL!
