Yes, that was the warm and endearing comment I just received today. It was by a woman.....a mom.
I replied, well I am 9 1/2 weeks and I do have a lot of bloating.
She then said..What are you having...triplets?
It's like b!tch...can you stop already? You already made me feel bad..let's keep rubbing it in. WTF?
Re: You look awfully big for 8 weeks
I almost posted the same thing. I am at 8 weeks and my boss just told me that I am starting to show.. well in his words. Poke out.
I am sorry she said that to you but I know exactly how you feel.
Rude! It would take a lot for me to not punch her in the face!
Just sayin!
I was in total shock and awe. Her look was of disgust and embarrassment for me.
Oh....and I love how it was "triplets" and not "twins". Just love it.
I was at the Dr. today and they were doing the ultrasound and the assistant brought in the Doppler hearbeat monitor and the nurse told her they couldn't use that one since I was only 8 weeks, the assistant said "OH, Really?"
But I was already fat to begin with and know that I look like I could be few months along, so I don't get too offended anymore, but it still sucks.
The only thing that I can possibly think of that would make her say this is if you are short. I have heard that shorter women tend to show earlier and more because there is less room in their torso for baby. I had a friend who was shorter and pregnant with only 1 baby but seriously, she looked like she was having multiples, even she said so.
Maybe your mom was just trying to joke around, or maybe she honestly thought you might have more than one. Either way, it's not an excuse for what she said. I would definitely tell your mom how offended the comment made you so hopefully she can filter herself in the future.
What is wrong with people? 3 months ago I had a six-pack... now I have a little pudge and a little bloat. So what? I'm pregnant.
I would never be this rude to someone! Women are always sensitive about their weight! They should know better.
BFP#1: 7/23/10, EDD 4/1/11, MC/DNC 9/29/10(14wks)
BFP#2: 1/12/11 CP (6 Weeks)
BFP#3: 6/26/11, EDD 3/4/12, Natural MC 8/5/11 (10wks)
I'm 5'8"...so nope, not short. And no, my mom didn't say this...a coworker did. She's a mom.
DH and I met up with a lady we were considering buying a car from about a month ago (I was probably 8w and some-odd days), and I was making small talk and told her we were buying a new car to make room for baby. She looked at me and said, "Wow, so you're due any day now, huh?"
Needless to say, we didn't buy the car.
Oh geez! people...
I'm kind of having the reverse side of this, I guess? People keep telling me, "you don't even look pregnant!" but after taking my first 'bump' pic last night, I felt horrible. Terrible bloating going on. Made me wonder if I constantly look fat and bloated to people on a daily basis?
I had someone tell me today I had a belly too. I'm 10 weeks. I took a picture at 8 weeks and a picture at 10 weeks...no change. People just don't think and I think they want you to have a belly so sometimes they just get it into their heads that there is even if there isn't.
Your mom should totally know better though!
So we were all out for work for someone's bday and that lady happened to be there. She brought it up again and someone laughed and said, hahaha..that's funny.
I blew up. I told them it wasn't F'in funny. It's not a joke and it's not right to poke fun at someone because they're pregnant. I just had an ultrasound and having ONE baby. I then said..i'm fat then ok, you happy?
Needless to say, they started to back track and said "oh no, everyone is different, you will probably remain this way for a few more months.
Whatever. They can go to hell.
In the work cafeteria today I ordered sweet potato fries and a grilled cheese sandwich. The chef's response "working on that winter layer already?"
awesome.
This is great! I am keeping that one for when some says something like this to me.
