One of my babies has just been changed to Prilosec compounded instead of zantac since it was not working, it has been about 3 days now and he seems to be much worse, will it take time to get adjusted to the medicine or should I call the pedi again? It seemed that zantac worked immediately when the babies started it. I have also read that they can take both medicines, but my pedi told me to stop the zantac. Can someone school me on Prilosec...
Thanks

Re: Prilosec for Reflux
prilosec can take a few days to build up enough in the system. I used to sell Prevacid- this was one of the big differences in the 2 drugs... prevacid's bioavailability was 80% on day one... prilosec was really low- took 5 days to ramp up to that... so give it a couple more days. Your baby might need a higher dose, too.... or ask to switch to prevacid.
my son actually didn't do as well on prevacid once/day as he did with zantac 3x's a day (go figure)... it takes some trial and error to figure out what will do the best for your baby. I hope it works fast- reflux SUCKS.
