School-Aged Children

Not what I wanted to hear

So I had lunch with dd today at school and her teacher approached me to explain that she punched some boy this morning before going to class. When asked why she did it she just shrugged her shoulders.

So I ask her if she did and she says yes. I ask why and she said the boys were spitting at her. I'm not sure if it really happened or if she is just making it up. She gets good remarks everyday except once when she was in trouble for spitting at recess and not cleaning up when asked. I really hope she doesn't have any behavior problems throughout the year.

Re: Not what I wanted to hear

  • Oh no. I would talk to the teacher about it in case there are any future incidents. You dont want DD to be singled out in case these boys really are doing something.

  • I told the teacher right after I found out he spit at her what happened and she just said "oh, well she wouldn't tell me". I told dd that if someone does that to her she has to tell the teacher b/c she got in trouble since the teacher saw the hitting but not the spitting beforehand. (If he really did spit)
