Cloth Diapering

thinking of using cloth

Hi everyone! I know im still early but im strongly considering using cloth this time around but I dont really know to much about it..I've done a little research and I like the idea of the pocket ones where you just pull the liner thing out..but what else should i look for? Should i just get the One Size ones or invest in a little of everything? Thanks

  • Cloth is a little trial/error and may take trying it on your baby to see what works best. There are a few posts, if you scan through, where you can find a lot of basic info about CD. Doing a lot of research will help you familiarize yourself with the options and choose what you think will work best for you. I didn't do a CD trial from a shop, but created my own by purchasing a little of everything rather than investing in all 1-2 options. I'm glad I did this; what worked well in the beginning didn't work well in the long run (and vice versa), and I was able to see which diapers worked best on my baby's shape.

Also, as your baby ages/grows, the "best" options may change. Prefolds and fitteds are great on newborns; sized diapers are good as they get bigger, as are one-size diapers. It partly depends on personal preference (whether you want a 2-step system of fitteds/covers, or if you want to stuff pocket diapers as part of your laundry, or if you want an All-in-one system).

Lurk around a bit and you'll probably learn a lot.

I learned a lot of basics in the beginning from sites like pinstripesandpolkadots.com and forums about CD, like this one and diaperswappers.
