A few of my friends also have twin beds in their nurseries. They swear that it's one of the best decisions they've made. When there LO is sick, they can sleep in there. Anyone else doing this?
I was going to, but the room we choose as the nursery ( 3 BR house) isn't big enough for it. I have considered trading rooms and putting the nursery in the bigger room, with a twin bed and putting the guest room in the smaller room, but it is also my husbands army room where all his army gear is, and it takes up A LOT of room, so for now I think we're going to leave it, but that will probably change when we move back to WA next year.
Not planning on sleeping in there unless absolutely necessary, but we currently have a futon in the babies room & i think it's staying. we're not sure yet, we'd purposly rented a storage unit to get some things out of the house & the futon was on the list to go but we're contemplating leaving it in there. if i were you i don't think i'd run out & buy an extra if you don't already have one in there.

We have a day bed and it would fit, but I hadn't really put much thought into it.
Our nursery is literally as big as some of your large walk in closets. It's only big enough for a dresser, crib, changing table, and chair. There is literally no wall space after that, if that gives you any kind of clue. But our nursery is directly across the hall from our room, so we wouldn't use a bed in there anyway.
I am considering it, especially for the first couple weeks, DH seems to think he can sleep through the crying, but he drives a lot for work and can get hurt on his job if he isn't awake enough. I don't think he realizes just how loud a baby can cry
our nursery is a "railroad" bedroom where you can walk through it and into our bedroom if you want to (there is also another entrance to our bedroom so you don't have to do that), so I will literally be 3 feet from the crib if I leave the door between the rooms open. We have no need for a bassinet or any of that stuff. One of the benefits of a small house! Cheaper to get the necessary baby stuff.
We considered putting a futon in the nursery but there just isn't enough room. We're looking at putting a glider in there and possibly using that for sleeping or naps if necessary. We do have air mattresses so I have a feeling those might get used instead.
We just bought ds a twin over full bunk bed and so I'm going to use the twin top bunk in the baby room for a few months to be able to let dh sleep since he will be chasing our older son around after the baby comes, and also so I can sleep in with the baby when ds gets up and is running around in the morning.
we'll be using a mini co-sleeper next to our bed for the first few months, or until LO is able to climb out. we did the same with DD and it was easier to get her and nurse throughout the night. plus we feel it promotes bonding and other benefits.
There is no room in N's room (which she will eventually share with #2) for a bed. Right now we bring N to our bed if she's having a rough night, and #2 will be in our room for at least the first six months. We actually just moved N out of our room about two weeks ago!

Yep- we are! We live in a 2bdrm townhouse and DH snores like it is his job. We sometimes end up in different rooms now because of this- so I want a place to go when baby comes if DH starts to snore. My parents have also offered to b-sit the baby twice a week so they can sleep in there with the baby if they want to- or on the air bed downstairs.
It isn't ideal- but we will make it work until we move in another year and a half:)
After 4 years of unexplained infertility, IF treatments and 3 losses we have our miracle baby!
We have a queen bed in Aiden's room and will be putting a crib and changing table in another guest bedroom with a queen bed for this LO. All of our family and friends live out of state and we don't have anywhere to store these beds so it's easier to just keep them there for when company comes. Our 4 BR's are upstairs so our LO's don't need room to play in their rooms because we have a 1st level playroom for that.
I rarely have slept on the bed in Aiden's room though. When we have company we sleep in there and give our BR as a guest BR.

I'm not putting a bed in the nursery because of limited space, but in turn I'm basically putting the nursery in our bedroom. We're moving 3 months after the baby comes so I don't know what will happen after that, but as of right now, (we have 2 bedrooms) one bedroom is our office and the master bedroom is going to have all the the baby gear in it.
If things stay the way they are, I'm going to move to the guest room (which has a queen bed) and the nursery will be in my current room with the twin bed, so when we have guests I'll just come down here and sleep with him.
If my sister is serious... she has the biggest room in the house, downstairs. I could have my queen bed, the crib, the glider, 2 dressers, etc. all in there and still have plenty of extra room. She'd move up to my room and we'd move the twin bed down the hall, and my old queen bed downstairs. That would be ideal, but at the same time, the moving would suck because my sister has a solid wood platform bed... my bed doesn't have a frame haha
We currently have a queen size bed right now in the nursery. DH is debating on whether to take it out and put a futon in instead. He says depending how much stuff we have in the nursery more than likely the bed will be out and into another room maybe or getting the futon.

Re: Anyone putting a bed in the nursery?

I thought about putting a day bed but decided against it. Instead I'm putting a love seat.
More Green For Less Green
My mom suggested this, but the love seat we have would need to be recovered and that can be expensive.
We would love to do this but the nursery is just too small for it :0(
This. We could have fit a bed in dd's room but never saw the need. Just as well to put them in your room in a pnp or bassinet if there is a need.
Ditto, but futon instead of twin bed. When we have guests, we'll probably move LO to our room.

This the only difference is that I have a daybed in there....
