Mine just started this past week. I am 100% miserable... here's what I do:
Lay down (if I'm home) Eat a few saltines Drink water/sprite/gingerale
There are times when it's bearable and other times when I cannot move without throwing up.
But, it's only supposed to last the first trimester... so if you can get through those weeks it should get better or go away. It's definitely a good cause!
well here's the thing it's different for every person and every pg. w/ #1 I was sick all day every day from about 4 weeks till I delivered. Laying still was about the only thing that made me feel better. drugs didn't even work.
w/#2 I had almost none at all.
w/ this 1 I'm having some but I'm managing it w/ meds, resting, and eating frequent small meals.
I know it's scary but if you think too much about it you'll just make yourself crazy.
This time around I dry heave just about every morning. Some days I throw up my lunch. I get dizzy and sick to my stomach. But it usually only lasts until 1pm and then after that I am fine. Nothing seems to help once I feel sick beside a whole bag of gold fish. LOL
it's far worse than i thought it would be... queasy 24/7, complete aversion to all food, getting sick at the drop of a hat.... but, it's obviously completely worth it!
my dr put me on zofran which has helped a lot, it's the only thing that has consistently helped. other things (saltines, ginger ale) would go from 'helpful' to 'the cause of my sickness' in an instant. gatorade has helped a LOT. i'm thirsty all the time, but if i drink as much water as i want to because of my thirst, i immediately get sick. gatorade quenches my thirst far faster than water, so i don't have the same end result (thank goodness!).
but, you just chug on through, i'm hoping that i'm nearing the end of it soon, and i seem to have 'good' days far more often than i did a few weeks ago, so hopefully the end is in sight
Don't fret about what may or may not be - I think the bigger worry comes AFTER the kids are born (and want to run into traffic, stick coffee beans up their nose, or ask to borrow the car).
Yes... it's bad. I feel sick about 80% of my waking time. It's like the flu without a fever. I usually throw up once a day- sometime at 6am, sometimes at 9pm. It's worse than I thought it would be, but I can still function and I'm hoping it's temporary.
I haven't found anything to "cure" m/s. I eat small meals (ex. crackers) throughout the day. Sour candy keeps it at bay, as does water and sleep.

First time around the exhaustion was harder on me than the morning sickness ... this time around is the complete opposite, so you never know how your body is going to react.
For the morning sickness, I have found tea settles my stomach. I also follow my whims, because if I am eating something that I actually want, it goes down and stays down.

Yes its as bad as people say it is. I have all day sickness mostly queasy feeling and my new favorite symptom is dry heaving in the morning because there is nothing in my tummy to throw up. Eating does nothing to help for me anyways. I've tried sea bands .sour candy and ginger so such luck. But like everyone has said its totally worth it in the end when you get a adroable lo
My all day sickness is really bad, just had my doc call in a script for Zofran and I am counting the minutes until I can go pick it up at the pharmacy. I wouldn't say that MS was a fear of mine, there are a lot worse things than this! I will endure it for the next 34 weeks if I have to.
It all depends on the person. For my first, it never got worse than feeling nauseus. It was uncomfortable but not unbearable. Knock on wood, that's how it's been thus far for my second PG.
Some women have it so terrible that they need to be hospitalized. And some have it terrible with their first, but have nothing for their second. You won't know until it happens.
I think it all depends on the person (or my MIL would say, if it's a boy you'll be more sick than if you're carrying a girl). I'm 6 weeks 6 days today and I've had morning sickness for a couple weeks now. It's not pleasant but some days are better than others. Tired, nauseous, the whole bit. But, it will be worth it. It should pass after the first trimester from everything I've read. For me ginger in any form (ginger ale, pickled ginger, candied ginger, fresh ginger in mint tea), and Scotch mints have been my saving grace. Mine is way worse in the evenings so I can usually keep my breakfast and my prental down in the morning. Good luck!
I can understand your fears. I have emetophobia (fear of vomiting), so I was pretty stressed about getting pregnant, because I was afraid that I'd be vomiting the whole time... and that gives me a lot of anxiety. When I found out I was pg, I hoped I'd be one of the lucky ones.
Well, I did end up getting m/s, but I haven't vomited at all yet. But I have felt nauseous most of the time, and felt like I might have to throw up pretty often. For me, the worst is this constant gagging feeling-- yuck.
My "remedies" are to keep food in my stomach (especially protein), getting lots of sleep, sucking on hard candy when nausea strikes, drinking hot tea, and to avoid food aversions. I've also been taking the Unisom/B6 combo since the nausea first started, and that helps a lot.

In all honesty it's not fun honey, but it's totally livable. You find a routine of what works for you (everyone is different) and then just ride it out. Mine is almost all day, I get a little breather in the afternoon. And what helps me is eating crackers before I get out of bed and then get up slowly, and then only crackers, grapes, and ginger ale or ice water before 1 or 2, and then I can eat fresh stuff like salads and fruit for a late lunch. I try to stick to cold stuff to eat cause they generally dont have a strong smell to them. Then for supper I stick to foods that I can handle that will keep me full for a while because I can't eat to close to when I go to bed due to my new friend heartburn. And for some reason when I have a good day I could eat chips and salsa all afternoon! But of course, this is just me, and believe me, every woman is different. Good luck to you hun!

Yes it is, but not everyone gets it. Some have it longer and worse then others. I am a lucky one that has it ALL DAY EVERYDAY. It will be worth it is what I keep telling myself!
Week 4 was constant nausea, but I could still eat pretty much everything like normal.
Week 5-6 not so much with the nausea, but CRAZY food aversions. Seriously, I was only eating fruit and baby carrots.
Week 7 barely any nausea, food aversions have lessened their grasp, and I only vomited twice. Dry heaved a few times after a big meal, but I learned my lesson.
Bottom line: Everyone is different.

It varies greatly from person to person. I know people who have puked all day every day for 19 weeks. I know people who barely feel it at all. I get nauseous after eating a big meal and I tend to get nauseous at night, not in the morning. Usually laying down and sucking on a sour candy helps.
With DS it was virtually non-existant! This time I am feeling a little unwell, but no vomiting, just yucky tummy issues. It really just depends on the person so hope that you are one of the lucky ones and if not there are lots of diffrent things you can try.
MS is total misery. I am on the verge of puking almost all day. Its hard to snap out of feeling moody all the time when you feel so bad. With my first it lasted the entire pregnancy. i'm really hoping it will be shorter this time.
i totally understand your fear too....i am terrified of it! so far so good for me, but many people say it hits at 6 weeks, which i will be in a couple days. i'm hoping i'm one of the lucky ones, but just trying to remind myself if it does happen, it will eventually go away and will be worth it in the end.

I think it's one of those things that you just get through. My all day sickness started during my 6th week. My nausea is there all the time, but varies in severity. I have only vomited twice. My tricks are carbs (crackers), ginger ale, and rest.
I've been nauseous all day every day for over a week but no throwing up. I feel like I'm permanently hung over 24/7. I gag on water and nothing sounds good to eat. I wouldn't give this pg up for anything though. It will be worth it.

Pregnant with twins, and no morning sickness.

everyone's different. My good friend had terrible m/s for the entire 9 months with BOTH her pregnancies (8 years apart)
I, on the other hand, never have had m/s. (yes, friend jokingly says she "hates" me)

For me, yes. But it's worth every nasty miserable vomiting second.
Not everyone gets bad "morning sickness" and people keep having babies, so I wouldn't be too worried about it.
Good luck TTC, hope to see you here soon.

I have/had HG with both pregnancies. I'm so lucky!
This. Thankfully no vomiting, but nausea 24/7, gagging & dry heaving.
Drugs & ginger capsules have helped a little.
I've been lucky so far.
Week 4 was constant nausea, but I could still eat pretty much everything like normal.

A
Never had it.
It can be debilitating for some women, though. Thankfully the drugs help most people.

Mine is horrible. I have it all day, every day with only brief moments of feeling okay.
Zofran helps quite a bit, but I still vomit and dry heave and have zero desire to eat. Tea, sparkling water and ice cold water help slightly.
I hope I forget how this feels so I'll want to have another one!!! I'm trying to convince myself this is all worthwhile!
