Cloth Diapering

Pocket Diapers?

does anyone use these? I'm thinking about starting to use CD's and I think I these would be the easiest?

Re: Pocket Diapers?

  • IMO, pockets are the easiest and that's what we use.  We like one-size pockets, but I've heard that some babies fit better into fitted (S, M, L) pockets so you might want to buy a few of each to start.  We use Bum Wear, BabyKicks, FuzziBunz, Kawaii, Runparooz, and Bum Genius.  FizzuBunz are my favorite.
  • where is a cheap place to buy the pocket diapers? and how much are they normally? with the insurts and all?

  • LOVE pockets. We are converting our stash to one-size pockets. They're very daddy and babysitter friendly.

So far, we have BumGenius, Rumparooz, Happy Heinys, Haute Pockets and a Rocky MOuntain Diaper. They're all nice. Waiting for my FuzziBunz, thirsties and Knicker Nappies to show up so I can try them too.

So far, I really like both the Bum Genius and my velcro Happy Heinys (the snap ones are nice but don't fit her as well yet.)

  • do you still need to use a cover with the pocket diapers?

  • We've used them practically since Day 1. She was in sized Thirsties v2.0 pockets when she was tiny, and now we use OS pockets almost exclusively, with an occasional fitted or AIO to throw into the mix.
  • You do sometimes need to use a cover at nighttime when using pockets, but we only have 5 covers and that's been more than enough for one child.  This started when DS was about 6-7 months and began sleeping longer and peeing more throughout the night.

You can look on www.diaperswappers.com for new and lightly used diapers that are pretty darn inexpensive.  I think www.gogonatural.com is also pretty reasonable priced for many diaper brands, and she included liners.  Lots of people love Nicki's Diapers, and she has good sales and giveaways.  Kawaii diapers can be purchased at this site for bulk prices and with free shipping to US and Canada.

  • We have some pockets.  I like them, but for DH he typically forgets to take the insert out after he changes the diaper so I have to dig through the dirty ones & do that.  I think AIOs are easiest (one step only) & DH finds fitteds with covers easiest (he hates snaps).  I guess it's just a matter of preference.

  • I just replied to your other post and recommended our pockets!  Lol.  But....  We love them.  I think AIO's would be nice as well (all-in-ones) but since the absorbant part is built into the diaper (as opposed to coming out for laundering) they take longer to dry.

I put a link in your other post to where I bought my pockets.  Super cheap and great quality.  I'm also going to use them to create my own pattern and make some of my own.

  • we love pockets!  smartipants are our favorites and also the least expensive dipe that we have.  they also have a double sided sleeve, so no need to take the insert out before washing.  a 3 pack sells for $40.
  • thank you to all of you! I think DH and I have decided on pockets and AIO
