i was so wrong! but alive & well!

I was so convinced (110%) that I was having a huge baby boy, so imagine my surprise when the dr said "it's a girl!!" especially a girl that weighed 7lbs!   She is awesome, but surprisingly alert (and fussy) most of the night!  DH & I have been sleeping in shifts which doesn't work sooo well since she definitely wakes up at least every two hours to nurse.  Today is her week old bday so I am hoping things improve quickly, but either way, she is worth a little (or a lot) of sleep deprivation!

What's her name? I don't think I've "heard" it yet from anyone!! 

As for getting up every two hours to nurse, that's VERY normal at this stage. Sometimes they even "cluster" feed in the night/evening, which means they feed every 30 mins to every hour for about 15+ mins. BFing is HARD work!! BUT the good news is if I've made it almost 14 months, anyone can do it

I would recommend, resting when she rests during the day and tell visitors to come by in the evenings when she will be more alert and need to be cuddled.

She's beautiful!  Congrats to you!  And just know that the whole sleeplessness thing does get better...promise.  The first two weeks are the most brutal and then there's a couple more before you'll start to feel like you're coping.  Not sure if you've tried nursing while side-lying, but if you can manage it, it's a GREAT way to catch some zzz's while the LO nurses...especially around week three when there's a growth spurt and it feels like they are nursing nonstop for hours on end.

Congratulations! She is beautiful! I know what you mean, I was convinced that I too was having a boy... TG we found out at our 20-week ultrasound because I would have been shell-shocked if we had waited till birth! Your daughter is GORGEOUS! What's her name? Get all the sleep you can!

congrats!! she is ADORABLE so glad to finally see a pic and hear that you are doing well. the sleep deprivation is rough. and man, i was an emotional mess the first few weeks,...i never knew my hormones could affect me so much!!! like everyone else, i can't wait to hear her name!
