For those having a small baptism "party"

What are you doing after mass?  We will have about 16 adults - 4 kids.  I am trying to find a restaraunt to go to, but the ones I like arent opened until 4pm.  I am still looking, but was curious what others were doing.  Guess we could just have everyone back at our house and just bring in food/drinks.  Not sure.

We had everyone out to our house and we just grilled out.  It was nice and easy and then I had a bought a cake for dessert...

We had a brunch at our house--egg bake, french toast, muffins,ham, etc.

We had about 20 people total as well and we went to a small family owned restaurant that was right up the street from the church.

I wanted a backyard type party but it's still pretty hot here in September and I felt that a dinner later that day would be best, so we're getting gourmet pizza  and salads catered. That way when Alexandra goes to sleep we'll be outside where we won't wake her.

This is only an issue for a couple of people who live across town from us and our cathedral. They'll come to the baptism but not to the dinner, which is understandable.

We had everyone to our house. I made hot chicken sandwiches in the crock pot and cut up a watermelon. We also had chips, veggie tray, and lemonade. It was pretty simple overall.

We had everyone over to our home for a luncheon afterwards. We served sandwiches (which I ordered) and several salads and sides (that I made ahead of time). I also ordered a cake and we had icecream with it. It was simple but nice.

I wouldn't stress over it too much!

We have about the same amount of people.  We decided to do a small lunch the day before since some family will be leaving town Sunday after and this way we don't have to rush before the baptism.  I am just doing heavy apps....(meatballs, shrimp cocktail, mini sandwiches, mini potatoes, cheese balls, and petite fours)  I figured just lots of little finger foods would be easy and not require too much cleanup!

My parents  hosted at their house, but we had a lot of people. We have a large family so there really wasn't any way of getting around that.

We had everyone back at my parents (baptism was in my hometown).  The original plan was just to do drinks and desserts, but it turned into dinner.  We grilled brats and hamburgers and everyone coming brought a side dish.

We'll have about 25 adults plus some kids, and we're having a luncheon at our house afterwards. (It's this Sunday, eek!) I make as much ahead as possible, and once we get back to the house after the service, I just serve simple no-cook appetizers (like cheese and crackers, and veggies and hummus) while we finish getting the meal together. We'll have a mixed green salad, sliced grilled chicken, roasted vegetables, baked rice with butternut squash, quinoa tabbouleh or lemon pasta salad (I'm still undecided), and macaroni and cheese for the kids -- all (except for the salad) made the day before and reheated as needed. I also ordered a cake and plan to make some cookies and brownies later this week.

We had about 20 and I had a small luncheon at my house.  I ordered a meat and cheese deli tray from Wal Mart (I usually never shop there, but their large deli tray is on $35!!!), I had different sandwich rollsm, potato salad and fruit salad.  It worked out perfectly because when we got home from church, I just had to pull everything out of the fridge.

We had about 20 people over at my parents' house. We had green salad, fruit salad, pasta salad, deviled eggs, wraps and sandwiches, chips, melted brie and crackers, cake, and lady fingers. My mom made mostly everything minus the sandwiches (we live about 4 hours away so I wasn't really around to help prepare beforehand.) The baptism was at 9 and lasted until about 10, so people got to my parents' around 10:30 and we put out the food at around 11.

We had about 35 plus kids.  The baptism was over by 10:30 so we had everyone back to our house for brunch.  We did quiche, baked french toast, bacon, a yogurt bar (greek yogurt, fruit, granola, honey), assorted baked goods - i made several types of scones and muffins which are good bc you can make ahead and we had iced coffee and mimosas.  It actually turned out really nicely and most of what we served could be made or at least prepped ahead of time.  We also had a slip n slide in the backyard and my brother brought his bouncey house.  That way, the kids could play outside and the adults could actually hear each other talk inside

We're only having 8 people at DS's baptism...I'm making baked ziti (prepping the night before), salad, and getting a cake.
