Cloth Diapering

Should I lug my CDs on vaca?

I'm going up to my parents (6 hr drive) for a week on Wednesday.  Normally I wouldnt even question this, I have always brought my CDs with me to use on DS#1 but now with two kids I am going to have an entire suitcase just with CDs.  I will have to bring my whole stash for the 2 of them which is close to 60 diapers.

Do you think it is worth bringing them or should I just use sposies for a week?

  • I would. I do now when we visit the parents. I guess I figured I'd have to take even more disposables, so no difference. Unless you just plan to buy sposies when you get there.

  • I hate traveling with lots of luggage, so I feel you.  That said, since you're driving, I figure it's not as much of a pain (or $$$) to bring the extra suitcase.  I'd do it.  If I were flying, I might use disposables, particularly if the cost of the diapers were going to be less than the cost of checking an extra bag.

  • I'd bring them since you are driving.  I only had one trip I had to use sposies for DD on and I couldn't wait to get back to my cloth.
  • I would. I hate putting DD in disposables since I'm always worried about leaks or that chemical smell or "poopsplosions." Of course, I got my dad to keep a pipe fitting at his house that lets me hook up my diaper sprayer when I go there, so CDing is easy. They also don't mind me washing diapers there, either.

  • guess i'm in the minority, but last year i brought CD when we visited my dad (8 hour dive) and it was a pain.  i had to bring so many cd and my own detergent to wash.  this year i brought disposables and it was SO much easier.  i hated the idea of it, but the convenience factor for us was worth using them for a week.

  • I would, except I probably wouldn't bring all 60 dipes (I'm assuming since you're going to your parents house you can do laundry). If you do laundry every other day, do you really need all 60?
