How long after going off Depo should I expect to conceive?

My last shot was July 19. I have been on Depo since May 2009, was off from April 2010 til July 2010. I know It will be another month before I would get another injection.

How long was it before you conceived after going off the shot? 

Background info:

I have a very irregular period, once every three months or so. Have had breakthrough bleeding since I started the shot.

My sister took several months to get to a normal cycle after going off Depo. She went off in October 2008 and conceived in July 2009. She's on here somewhere, pm me if you want and I can get you her screen name.

I took the Depo for a little over a year. I was supposed to stay on the dosage but missed one because of scheduling conflicts with my Gyno. I had an appt to get a pap, but AF came. Then had to reschedule to get the shot after. This was all within a 1 month time frame. When I arrived to take the shot, the nurse had me take a pregnancy test as precaution. Turns out it was a BFP. My Dr had told me I was very fertile for conceiving only a few weeks off Depo.

It all depends on your body and how fertile you are also.

Wow! I have heard of women conceiving that quickly then I've heard of it being several months sometimes up to 18 for them to conceive. We want to try to have our first before I turn 25 and he turns 30 at the beginning of 2012. So I'm trying to decide to stay on the shot for a while longer or go off of it since I have never had a regular period to start with.

I was on the Depo shot for 5 years. It was the 1st b/c I used and I stayed on it until my ex and I had started talking about having kids in the near future. I went off of the shot and started taking the pill to regulate my periods since I did not have the slightest bit of a period the entire 5 years I was on the shot. I was told by my doctor that it can take up to a year to get pregnant after stopping the shot and going w/ out b/c and maybe a couple of months to a year after stopping the pill. 

I ended up leaving my ex but continued on the pill for about 3 years. My husband and I decided early in our relationship that we wanted kids whether it happened before we got married or not...we were 24 and 25 at the time and were hoping to get pregnant soon after stopping the pill. 

Anyway it took me about a year to get pregnant. Once I started the pill I had regular but short and light periods. It seemed like my periods were pretty regular after stopping the pill but they got heavier.

 As said before it all depends on the person though...I knew of someone who stopped taking the shot in her 40's cause she thought she couldn't get pregnant and got pregnant within a few months of stopping.
