can you premake pancake batter?

like make a big batch and keep it in the frig?  i've seen people put it in old ketchup plastic bottles and squeeze it out.

Re: can you premake pancake batter?

  • I have made enough to split over two days... but not any longer.  I would worry about the eggs in it.   if it's for longer than that, I make it, put them in sandwich bags and freeze in portions (2 in a bag).  speaking of... I should do that this week.. my kids are starting preschool this week.
  • Like Halo, I've made enough to use over 2 days....maybe 3 if it looks ok on the 3rd. Usually I get paranoid though ;)

  • Now that I have a skillet (Why am I just now getting a skillet?) I make the whole batch and freeze them.  They are just as delish after they are re-heated.

Ditto. I just reheat them in the micro on the "defrost bread" setting.

  • Another "make a triple batch and freeze them" gal here.  We toss them in the toaster oven each morning.  We eat off one batch for a full week.

But.... I wonder now if you could freeze the batter?

Put it in a freezer bag, thaw overnight and then just snip the corner of the bag and squeeze out for cooking?

hmmmm....  may have to try that.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • We make our own dry mix and add the wet ingredients the morning we make the pancakes.  Then we make extra and freeze them.

  • I also freeze and defrost in the microwave.  I wonder if you could use Egg Beaters instead of eggs to make it last longer??? hmmmm.....
