3rd Trimester

How are you organizing your drawers

I'm curious about how everyone is organizing their drawers.  I've tried to sort between newborn/3mo stuff and older stuff (so the older stuff is in another drawer).  From there I have the onsieis in a pile, the layettes and then the one piece sleeper/playset things.

I was going to get baskets as well, one for her socks and hats, and then another for maybe her little bloomers and bibs.  Another basket for hair stuff (these will fit in the top drawer).

Just curious how people are doing it.  Those socks adn such are so tiny I just don't want it to be a big mish-mash.

Re: How are you organizing your drawers

  • Pretty much the same as you are. I have so many clothes from my sister that my drawers are full with 0-3 months, and I have three boxes of 3-6 months waiting in the closet! I bought some drawer organizers from Ikea that work great for the socks, hats, etc. They were super cheap and do the trick. I already use them in my underwear drawer, and thought they were perfect for little baby clothes.

  • we're using a china cabinet. it has a few full size drawers which i'm using for onesies/shirts/pants, split up by size as you describe. and then there are leetle tiny drawers and shelves which are perfect for socks and hats and whatnot. it's even got space for books, toys and towels on top i'm so glad we got it!

  • I decided to put both NB and 0-3 mo in the drawers. The drawers are organized by item of clothing (i.e. onsies, pj's, pants...) Then the larger sizes I have put up in rubbermaid totes by size.
  • I just have it organized by size right now.  I figure I'll wait until the LO is here to figure out what's going to work.  I tried to keep onsies/sleepers separate in the drawer - but still keep outfits together, but we'll have to see what's easiest once I'm sleep deprived, lol

  • We have the IKEA Hemnes 3-drawer dresser.

In the top drawer we have the Komplement organizers and in them are:

    - hats

    - socks

    - leggings & mittens

    - pacifiers/paci clips/hand rattles

    - diaper & breastfeeding lotions

    - diapers

    - breastfeeding/pumping supplies (extra membranes for the pump, breast pads for leaking, etc)

In the second drawer is all clothing, in 3 sections:

    - newborn size onesies/outfits

    - 0-3 size onesies/outfits

    - sleepers/PJs in both newborn size and 0-3 size (smaller in front/on top)

In the bottom drawer is essentially all blankets :

    - recieving/swaddling blankets

    - swaddlers (like the miracle blanket) & sleep sacks

    - warm baby blankets

All the larger size clothes are separated by size into storage bins in the closet.  I also have a decent amount hung (in all sizes) because we are having a girl and have been given a lot of little dresses & what-not.

Bibs, washcloths, and towels are all in their own compartments in one of those storage things that hangs on the back of the closet door.  Burp cloths are in a storage basket in the closet.

I have no idea if this system is actually practical and I am guessing we will probably reorganize a time or two once LO is here and we see how we are actually using the stuff.  But for now it looks nice and seems to make sense.  =)

  • as of right now my plan is to put Newborn things in the top drawer, sleepers in the second drawers then 0-3month oneies and shirts and pants in the third drawer. and then 3-6months all in the last three drawers. set up the same way..

    Outfits  hanging in the closest

socks in a basket under the changing table.

Blankets, and burp clothes, towels, in the hanging organizer in the closest.

I'm sure this will change once I start getting things put away.. but that's what I got for right now

  • My LO has an IKEA dresser and I used the Komplement/Skubb drawer organizers just like PPs. Love those things. I have almost all the clothes in the organizers so i can move them from drawer to drawer easier as he sizes out of a range of clothes.

Top (small) drawers - socks, babylegs, bibs, hats
    Drawer #2 - newborn, 0-3 stuff
    Drawer #3 - 3-6 month stuff
Drawer #4 - 6-9 month stuff plus Sleep sacks
Drawer #5 - Clean bedding / 12 month+ stuff (I only have a couple items in this category so I just have them sitting here for now)
