Do you just take one or do you take two? How do you get enough folic acid since one vite only has 400mg? Is it dangerous to have too much of the other vites that one has 100% of?
I don't take those but I can answer the questions, my Dr told me to take an additional folic acid supplement b.c he suggest 1000mg and most vits only have 400-800mg.
check the bottle of the vits. It may have a kids serving and an adults serving, I would think you would need more then the kid would.
I take 2 Flinstones, and eat enriched cereal and bread every day for extra Folic acid. Most prenatals that I've seen have 800 mg, so its the same. I compared what I get in 2 Flinstones to 2 or 3 brands of prenatals, and you're right- there are some vitamins that we're getting more of. I plan on asking my doctor about this next week at my appointment.
I take two a day... If your body gets too much of a certain kind of vitamin, it usually just gets rid of it anyway. (You pee it out...). So I'm not too worried...
If you're worried, though, just take one and then an extra folic acid, like a pp suggested.

This is only true for water soluble vitamins. A, D, E, and K are fat soluble and "extra" is not washed out in your urine, it is stored in fat within the body. Like I stated above, too much vitamin A is a teratogen (causes birth defects).
last pregnancy OB told me to take 2 so that is what i am doing again!! last pregnancy with DD the prenatals made me so ill on top of my severe sickness so they prescribed me flinstones and i kept those down better. i take 2 at night.
Wow, I am a little surprised so many of your OBs said to take 2 flinstones, mine was pretty strict about only taking 1 a day, with the folic acid separate.
I take the Target generics of the Flinstones Complete, which have 3,000 IU or 60% of an adults' daily Vit A.
ETA: How much vitamin A you need
Pregnant women, 19 and older: about 770 micrograms RAE of vitamin A
(approximately 2,565 IU) per day
The dosage for adults (and children over 4) on Flintstone Gummy Vitamins is 2 a day. In 2 Flintstone vitamins there is 2000 IU of Vitamin A which is less than the recommended dosage for expecting mothers.
I've spoken to my OB about it and in addition both my father and husband are physicians and they suggested two with an additional folic acid pill. I'm not sure if you are taking the Target generics and therefore they have a different percentage of vitamins, but I'd bring the vitamins with you next time you see your OB so he can look at the makeup of the vitamins because if you are taking regular Flintstone vitamins you should be taking two. Maybe he wasn't sure about the makeup of the vitamins.
I wanted to comment again because I just looked on the Flinstone vitamin website and it seems that each version of the vitamin has a different makeup. I would check the version you are taking and with your doctor. I take the gummies and the dosage is two, but the complete is one.
I take 1 and a Folic Acid with DHA combo I got from Sams Club. The supplement has 600 of folic acid so I'm getting 1000 daily. My OB says that's fine. Plus the Folic Acid with DHA was cheaper.
