I am exclusively pumping and my nipples are white on the ends. They are sensitive but don't necessarily hurt. Has anyone ever dealt with this? I just want to make sure this is not thrush. thanks
are they always white or just after you pump? mine appear white after lo nurses.
they are always white. A bright white right after I pump and then a translucent white hours later. I have started washing my nipples after I pump but it doesn't seem to be helping at all.

Talk to your doctor about this. I have a disease called Raynaud's Syndrome and it can cause your nipples to turn white because of something called a vasospasm. It can happen when you're nursing, after nursing, when pumping, or even when it's just cold outside. I would have NEVER known that it was a problem if I hadn't called my LC about the pain I was having when I was nursing. DS had a perfectly good latch and we had no other issues... I just felt A LOT of pain when he would latch on and nurse, even though there was nothing wrong with his latch. It wasn't until she asked me if my nipples turned white afterwards that we figured out it was because of my Raynaud's.
KellyMom has some good info on the different things that can cause your nipples to turn white.

I suggest you read through that, but definitely ask your doctor about it. I had to be placed on medication so that I could continue BFing.
I have the same thing! It is so very painful. It even hurts in the shower because of the temp change.
