I need to find out if I'm just being biotchy about this because its my SIL who I do not like, or if this is REALLY annoying.
Next weekend DH and I are going out of town. We arranged for one of DH's cousins who doesn't work on Friday, to watch our kids during the day. Then DH's parents are taking them Friday night and my parents will pick them up Saturday afternoon and have them Saturday night until we get home on Sunday. Messy, but best for all..kids get to see everyone, no one has their whole weekend occupied with our kids, etc.
Well, SIL just called up and said that her daycare provider just happens to be off next Friday so she wants DH's cousin to watch her DD too.....can she just bring her over Friday morning. And I"m pretty sure in her mind she is thinking "we can split the babysitter expense" because she's a tightwad like that....grrrrr.
First of all, getting my 3 kids ready and out the door for school isn't an easy feat, FOR ME....I think the cousin will have her hands full without the extra child. Plus that extra child will be a distraction for my kids.
Second of all, I would have no problem watching her DD if I were home, but I sorta feel like the cousin really is being put in a hard spot, because she probably doesn't feel like she can say no.
Third of all, I don't think (if we agreed to it) that the bill should be split, but we should pay what were were originally intending and SIL can pay what she would pay normally, you know?
Finally--I found out our old nanny is available on Friday, so I suggested to DH that we just let SIL have cousin go to her house and watch their DD, and we get nanny who A) knows our house and where everything is. knows the school, how drop off and pick up is. C.) Knows Mitch well and he loves when she comes over (the cousin isn't THAT familiar).
So am I just annoyed because I don't like my SIL, or would you be annoyed too? And would you just get the old nanny? Or suck it up, let the cousin do it, with the extra kid?
Thanks
Re: would this annoy you?
niece is 3. Same age as my son. They probably would have fun together.
Cousin watching the kids is 25, so fully trustworthy and I think capable...but yeah, if she agrees to it.
