Cloth Diapering

Stripping CD versus Prepping?

What is the difference? Sorry if this is a dumb question!

TIA!

Re: Stripping CD versus Prepping?

  • Prepping is what you do before the first use. Diapers that are synthetics, like microfiber, only need one wash before use. Natural fibers (hemp, organic cotton, bamboo, etc.) need to be prepped - which is washing and drying several times to remove the natural oils found in those fibers to get the dipes up to their maximum absorbency.

Stripping is a process to remove any build-up or yuckies (like ointment/creams) that could be causing repelling or stink issues. You don't need to strip often. I haven't had to strip yet and we've been CDing for 3+ motnhs.

    Hope that helps! :)
