DS started preschool on the 1st and had a little bit of trouble in the mornings with being separated since this was his first time not being with a family member. After a few days, he was doing great and would look forward to seeing his teacher. This week they've had 2 different substitute teachers (Thurs & Fri) which has him not wanting to go again. He didn't cry yesterday when I left, he just was really shy and quiet. Today, there were four other children in the room when we got there and 2 of them were already crying. As soon as he saw them crying, he held on to me for dear life and started crying and asking me to take him home.
With this being the weekend and a break in the routine, I know that Monday is going to be another rough morning whether his regular teacher is there or not. I'm hoping that his regular teacher will be there on Monday, but since we do not know why she hasn't been there, I don't want to tell him that she will. Any suggestions as to how to make Monday go smoothly?
Re: substitutes = rough mornings
Well, if the teacher will be back, I'd play that up.
I try to tell my parents in advance if I have to be out....but that's not always possible.
That's my only concern. I'd like to be able to say that morning that Mrs. X will be there so that he will be excited to see her again, but I don't want to do that if she wont actually be there and have him be disappointed.
