How long before TTC...

Sorry to bother you ladies with another question. I was going to ask on the trying to get pregnant board, but I haven't worked up the courage to post anywhere else yet

so how long before TTC did you stop taking/using BC (if you were using it)?

I quit taking my BCP in December because I was getting heart palpatations.   That's also when I started my PNV.  We did not start TTC until the end of may, so about 5 months.

I took my last BCP in February of 2008 and we started TTC in June 2009.  TTC 1.5 years later wasn't the reason I stopped taking BCPs though, so maybe I shouldn't have said anything?

This exactly!  I went off in October and got pregnant in November.  My Dr told me that a lot of times women have luck getting pregnant right away after going off BCP.

This is also our plan. I was thinking I wanted to go off earlier, but I'm just really scared of getting PG before we're "ready". Our plan is to stop BC and start TTC in May.

I was thinking that this would be my last month of BCP, even though we don't plan to start TTC until the end of Jan. But I have a LOT of weddings booked for next year, I can't take any chances!! LOL

so I plan to make my annual appt with the doc in early Dec. I might get off BCP in Nov. tho, just to give my body a break before TTC in Jan.

My doctor told me to go off BCP two months before TTC.  But we did not take any measures to avoid during those two months.  I figured when it happens, it happens.  Month #3, it happened!

We wanted to wait until the wedding before I went off of BC.  Took my last pill in September, started TTC that following cycle....knowing full well it might take a while.  Never went back on it after that.

6 months. It took that long for my cycles to regulate.

This for us too! After doing lots of research, I found that the only reason Dr's tell people to wait at all anymore is so that they can better estimate when conception happened, but that the hormones should be out of your system in 48 hours. Once I was convinced that the pill wouldn't hurt a baby should I become pregnant right away I decided to hell with waiting

This is basically what I did.  I had been on the pill for 13 years and went off the pill Sept 09.  Estimated conception date end of Dec 09.  I mainly wanted a few "normal" cycles so we could more accurately set a due date after a friend had her due date a month off because she didn't wait until her cycles returned after she stopped depo.  I don't know the full details but baby girl was born around 7 pounds and a good length & health so it's unlikely she was born THAT much earlier than what her due date should have been.
