I disagree with the other posters. Though Riley is not my style, I think "Riley Diane" flows just fine and sounds good together. I also think that having such a traditional name as Diane balances out the untraditional nature of Riley, and such an overtly feminine middle name will help with having such a unisex FN. I always think if you're going with something unusual for a FN you owe it to your kid to pick soemthing more traditional for a middle, so your kid has the option later on if she wants it.
Finally, I think you should tell your sister to shove it. The fact that she doesn't like your MIL name has no bearing on the fact that you and your husband want to use it, and it's very sweet of you to honor your husband's family like that.

I like Riley, have a good friend with a little girl Rylee and she is very sweet. However, I don't like how Riley Diane flows, or together, but it is very nice to honor your MIL. That's a tough one, good luck. Oh, and I agree that your sister's opinion doesn't count, it's not her child. We had lots of opinions about DS's name (Dayton), but I love it, and that's what matters!

Re: WDYT of name?
Diane is nice, but doesn't go well with Riley in my opinion.
To me, the FN needs to be a little more traditional to match the style of Diane...
Same for me I like Diane a lot more than Riely!

I completely agree with all of this!
