I had an 86 year old patient named "Reddie" pronounced just like "ready" the other night...I told her I liked it and she said her grandma named her...apparently she was born in the middle of a huge snowstorm in the kitchen...I said "so you were just ready to come out" and she said "absolutley"...I can't decide if I like the name or just the story

Sounds like she had her very own special, made up version of the popular "girls names ending in -ie" trend of the 1920s. It's the -aden trend of her time.
Cute story. I wouldn't name my kid that, though.
