I have never colored my hair before. I am so not loving the way I look right now and have been thinking about dying my hair. I would have to do it myself (read - make MrsCooley do it). How much of a bad idea is this?

Re: what are the rules on coloring hair while pregnant?
Hair color is so safe anymore, most OBs think it's OK to color hair when pregnant. I think you should do it if you want to. I highlighted my hair throughout both my pregnancies and had no adverse issues. Just remember, your hair grows SO fast with all of the hormones and vitamins and such, don't be surprised if you need to do it more often!
And I totally need my glasses adjusted. When I first read your post, I thought it said, "cooking hair while pregnant", yikes.

I always thought it was the other way around. Because dye actually touches the scalp and highlights don't...atl east not as much. I could be wrong though.
Anyways, since you're in the second trimester I think it would be fine.
i shouldn't be putting information out there... i could be totally wrong, i am going off when i was pregnant a few years ago. i've also had like four glasses of wine.
Yep, this.
My OB said that my own personal happiness and ability to "feel good" about myself was more important than the minute research out there saying it wasn't a bad idea... He told me his wife colored her hair and drank a diet coke daily throughout her entire pregnancy... that made me feel better about my vices.
I got talking to my hairdresser about it one day... and she also pointed out that if hair color was "bad" for you, every hairstylist would have to take 9 mos off work while preggo + mat leave.... and most hair dressers work while pregnant.
So I say... go color your hair! And show us pics when you're done!
Looks like pretty much everyone is for it.
I had been thinking of trying out henna. My sister uses that to color her hair, and you don't have to worry about the chemicals that way.
