Best underware to start with?

I have training pants I bought from JCPenney and they are slightly thicker than normal underwear but DS can still feel the wetness when he had an accident.  But the actual underwear I like the most has been Carter's - it is tag free, and they seem easiest for DS to pull up and down on his own.  Gymboree has elastic and they seem tight to me but don't seem to bother DS but they just don't look as comfy.  I like some elastic but the Gymboree ones will be what he outgrows first because of the elastic.  I don't have any Children's Place underwear but I think their site might offer reviews?  And I have some Old Navy as well - and DS seems fine in those. 

As for prints, Carter's had some with tractors/trucks/machinery stuff which he is really into right now and they also had some with sports themes - another favorite for DS.  He was super excited to try them because they were what he liked and I could say "hey look at the footballs on the big boy underwear!  you have a football and you don't tee-tee on it so let's try to not tee-tee on these" and while it might sound silly, I think it has helped to say that.  Good luck!
