Have any of you signed up for a tour of your hospital maternity ward or any birthing classes yet? I'm curious, because I'm not familiar with the "normal" time frame for such things.
DO NOT WAIT. God forbid but what if you say, go into labor at 30 weeks? or have to start bed rest at 25 weeks? Once you hit about 16 weeks it a good time to start looking into at the very least or actually start tours and classes. Plus once you start a class you may find (as i've heard alot) that you really don't like the teacher and want to switch. Some like to push their own birthing opinions on there class.
Also to add to that. If you have "wants" you should check now at your hospital to make sure they allow those "wants". What if you can birth at 2 hospitals but you OB only can work at one? Say that's the one that doesn't allow water births like you want. Would you then want to switch OB's or give up that part of your birth plan?
I am signed up for the tours because we are moving states and I need to pick an OB and there are three main hospitals I would consider so that could impact my decision on what OB to use. When I called they told me most people don't do tours until the 3rd tri. Also, at the Dr's office I will most likely use, they sign you up for classes at 24 weeks and you take them between 28 and 32 weeks.
