Postpartum Depression

PPD from post delivery complications?

Is it possible to develop PPD pretty much overnight following the discovery of a postpartum complication? I developed & was diagnosed with a grade 3 bladder prolapse earlier this week and since then I have been feeling and acting off, PPD or just depression was raised as a possibility by both my mom and DH last night.

Anyone else experience something similar?

Re: PPD from post delivery complications?

  • Difficult deliveries and complications are usually the main reason for PPD. you will even see most moms on here were unplanned c section or had difficulties of some sort. Just talk to your doctor asap. GL

  • I think mine was from being overwhelmed by my 4th degree tear and nipple trauma from a BAD latch (AND a crazy MIL)! Luckily the doctor put me on prozac and it's really helped me. I definitely think my rough delivery was to blame.

  • You sound just like me with my first. I was doing AWESOME and then at about 5 weeks I started to run walk fast. Then I started to have the feeling that my vagina was falling out. That is when I realized that I had a vaginal wall prolapse. I had so much guilt about running, thought my body would never be the same. And felt depressed. I didn't go on medication, but if you need to don't feel bad. This is a difficult thing to deal with. But you are early after you delivery. I was able to do kegels and return to my working out. I will eventually have to have surgery after I am done having kids, but this is something you can live with. I had my second baby in Dec and it was the same.
