Seeing multiple OBs?

Hi all,

I have a first appointment set up with an OB in several weeks, which will be when I'm 7 1/2 weeks along. In case we don't like him, I'd like to set up an appointment to see another OB, too. Is it OK to schedule first prenatal check-ups with two different doctors? I'm slightly nervous that my insurance won't cover the same appointment twice. Or should I schedule just a consultation / meeting (is that even possible)? What do you recommend? Thanks!

Every practice is different, but at mine I don't even get to see the actual doctor until my 12 week appointment. All my appointments up until now how been with a nurse practitioner. I would call the practices, tell them that you are in the process of finding the OB that is right for you and see if they can set you up with a consultation. I agree that insurance may have a problem covering the same appointment at two separate place. It doesn't hurt to ask!
