When are you having your shower??

I would really would love to have mine right around the end or beginning of December but I hate to put people out when Christmas is so close! I?d also hate to do it in January though because I don?t want to have to rush to buy the things I don?t receive. I?m thinking I won?t really feel like it then. When is your due date and when are you having your baby shower? Thanks!

Re: When are you having your shower??

  • Mine is October 17th, we'll be 31wks and due December 14th (40wk).

You could always have a New Years/Christmas party where people could bring baby gifts but it's not a baby theme

  • I had mine December 2nd, and I was 28 weeks.  Nobody felt that it was too close to Christmas and we had a great turnout!

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  •  I am due Nov 30th, having my shower this Sunday actually. I will be almost 29 weeks along.
  • Mine was 2 wks ago... I was almost 27 wks, and I think it was perfect.  I'm starting to get real tired quickly, and can't imagine it being any later than the next couple of wks.  I believe the ladies here recommed by wk 30.  That way you are as prepared as possible w/ gifts, etc and still have time to complete your needs.

  • My shower is this Sunday and I will be just about 31 weeks.  When I was pg with my DD (due Jan 16) we had my shower mid November so it wouldn't interfere with the holidays since people have a lot gifts to get and holiday parties to attend.
  • I am just a week ahead of you and my shower is going to be the weekend after Thanksgiving. SIL will be in town and that is pretty much the determining factor for my mom/MIL who are throwing the shower. I have no other out of town family so everyone will be here anyways. I think I will be around 29-30 weeks?

It does seem a little early to me but I don't mind because I do want SIL to be able to come and then I will have time to complete the registry and get things going.

  • I was due November 5th (40 weeks), but figured I would be too exhausted or even on bedrest if I waited too long.  We did my first two showers the weekend I hit 26 weeks.  It was great because DH got the nursery pretty much done before that, I wasn't too exhausted to enjoy them, and could help DH put some of the things away/wash the laundry.  I am having another one this weekend (just a small family shower where we are requesting just diapers and wipes).  I am 32 weeks.  I am flat worn out most of the time and resting a ton.  DH and DS will open the presents, MIL and DH will handle everything, and I will just rest and enjoy myself.  Thank God I am not on bedrest (if I had to be on it, we were going to just cancel it).  I highly recommend earlier.

I had DS1 in January and we had my showers the weekend before Thanksgiving and the weekend after Thanksgiving.  We had a great turnout and I got a ton of stuff.  I wouldn't do the 3-4 weeks in December/early January.

This makes me feel better about having one so early!! Have fun this weekend :)

  • I'm due Feb 17 and I'm having mine Dec 5.  my cousin had twins and at hers she was so tired and swollen she didnt really enjoy it. So she suggested doing mine early, so I can enjoy my day too!
  • I had mine around 26.5 weeks.  I am close to 30 weeks now.  I am glad that I had it when I did because I was feeling really good around that time and have been slowly going downhill since.

I'd encourage you to have it sooner than later and go with what you feel comfortable with.  If people want to come, they'll come regardless!

  • I had mine at 30 and 32 weeks.  Some people suggest sooner, but it worked out just fine for me.

  • My mother has the shower planned for Nov 6th. It will be 2 days prior to my 27th week mark. Worked well with everyones schedule, so it worked out perfectly.
  • I would be around 33 weeks if I make the show around the time that I am thinking!

  • My shower is planned for Dec 4.  I will be 28 weeks.  We went on the advice of friends with twins regarding the possibility of being on bedrest and/or not being able to enjoy it.  We also didn't feel comfortable doing it any closer to the holidays and where we live gets alot of snow closer to January as well.

  • I'm having two baby showers and one is October 16th (when I'm 28 weeks). The other is October 30th (when i'm 30 weeks). I told the ladies who are throwing mine I didn't want to do it after 30 weeks.
