Sorry to be a PW, but I had to share.

Yesterday I ran into a friend of BIL's in the supermarket. I was with DD. Now this guy is SO NICE...but, I had to LOL (luckily I am at the point I can LOL about this stuff)

"Is that your daughter?"

"Yes"

"She's beautiful. You have 2 right?"

"No just one"

"I thought you had 2"

"No, just XXX"

"I really thought you had 2"

"We lost that baby"

Him: "Indifferent, oh, jeez, I am sorry"

"It's OK"

Sigh

    As if his memory is better than yours about YOUR children.  Sorry you had to go through that awkward moment. I hate them.

    Wow. He just had to keep question it? Really? He may be nice but he sounds thick. Sorry. :(

    Wow, I can't believe he kept pushing like that.  I think you'd know how many children you have better than he would.  Some people just don't get it.  I'm glad you're able to laugh it off.

    I hate those conversations and they always seem to happen in a public place. Weird that he kept pushing it with you though.

    DH's friend didn't know (but his wife did) so a month later at a party he asked when we were going to have another one. I think I smiled and walked away, probably to get a drink!

    I'm sorry you had to go through that.  Some people's kids....why would he keep questioning you.  As if you forgot about your 2nd child??

    Yeah...I think he was kind of thinking out loud. Like, huh, wth, I could have sworn...last time I saw and his wife I talked with his wife in depth about kids, babies, daycare, pregnancy, and it was just before I lost our son so...

    Thanks guys. I know it felt bad...it was just one of those faceplam moments...

    I liked how he asked you a THIRD time, just in case you forgot a kid. Was he expecting you to say "oh yeah! I totally forgot, I have ANOTHER kiddo at home. Thanks for reminding me!"
