Nervous - Progesterone is low

So my OB's office called me today and told me that the blood results came back and my pregnancy is confirmed, but my progesterone levels are low.  They called in a prescription and want me to come in tomorrow morning for another blood test.  Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I've been reading on the internet and I've seen some things that say that progesterone is prescribed to help save a pregnancy from ending in a misscarriage.

Any insight or personal experiences would be appreciated!

I just found out I am pregnant with my 3rd and also have low progesterone.  However I also had it with the prior pregnancies and was on prometria(sp) thru the first trimester.   I would just ask your dr any questions, mine said it is fairly normal and that they would keep an eye on it.  GL

I'm on Prometrium too.  Thanks for the info - this has already helped to calm my nerves!

I found out my progesterone was low after my first IUI long ago.   I've been on progesterone suppositories during every LP (and 1st 10 weeks of pregnancies) ever since.

I had low progesterone too and have been on suppositories since I found out I was pregnant at 5w2d.  I was so worrried about it and google is a horrible thing, however my RE reasurred me that low progesterone is common for many women.  Try not to stress about it.  I caused myself a lot of worry and so far all is fine!

I'm on Prometrium (vaginal suppositories) right now and have been since my BFP at about 3w 5d.  I'll be on them until I'm 14 weeks and then we'll see if I have to stay on them.

Same here taking pronitrium during the first trimester. Its very common

I'm on Prometrium too. My aunt says it's very safe and used to start period but used all the time to help save a pregnancy. She said if her daughters were in the same situation she'd beg them to take it if it meant seeing their child this side of Heaven. So, I'm taking it until 10 weeks gestation. So far it's helping

 Now sure what my progesterone levels are now (they were at 5.4). This, combined with prayer, I'm hoping to see my baby's heart beat on Oct. 6th!

Just wanted to reassure you - my progesterone level was very low and I was put on Prometrium until 13 weeks. I just had my baby and I'm so thankful I was on the medication - it worked! It's a pretty common problem, but correctable. Wishing you a H&H 9 months!!

I was on progestrone supplements until 12 weeks with DD and the same with this pregnancy.  As many women have stated, you can go on to have a healthy pregnancy.  Good luck!

I have low progesterone. we didn't discover it until around 7 or 8 weeks with my first pregnancy. My daughter is a healthy 2 year old now!  I remained on it until the ned of the first trimester. What I've been told is that at that point, the placenta takes over and provides everything needed.  This time, I am also on prometrium. we just had to up my dose because it didn't increase sufficiently with the original dose.  I've been on it since late in the 4th week.

Thanks ladies!  I got my blood drawn this morning and they said the results should be in by 3.

I've been on twice daily progesterone since we triggered - it's not that uncommon.

Right now all you can do is take the meds and wait. Good luck to you.

I'm in the same boat as you...I got a call last Monday saying my levels were too low, to top it off I had an ultrasound the Thursday before and we could see a sac but no baby. So of course the last week I have been going crazy thinking about everything since I read all the stuff too. My husband kept telling me to stop reading but I kept on. I went today and we heard a heart beat and saw the baby I am about 7wk5d. She said that my levels were probably low since I was so early when I went the last time (about 5 weeks) but wanted me to stay on it since it wouldn't harm anything to keep using it as it's a hormone that naturally occurs in my body. I feel alot better now that I heard the heartbeat. I would say not too worry to much, but I know it's not easy.
