Solids Help

Hi ladies!  My almost 11 month old is still having issues with solids.  She will eat some of the stage 3 foods but really prefers stage 2's still.  I try giving her stage 3's with tiny chunks (turkey and veggie or chicken and stars) and as soon as she gets a chuck in the back of her throat she gags/pukes it back out.  She'll eat the Graduates puffs and that's all I can get her to eat.  She won't take chunks of bananas or anything.  She tries to grab everything and shove it in her mouth but as soon as the texture gets to her its right back out.  She also onlyl has 1 tooth on the bottom.

Any ideas on how to warm her up to different textured foods or get her into more finger food kind of things?

Re: Solids Help

  • Maybe try making some food for her and messing around with the consistency? Even if you don't want to go crazy making food, it's easy to bake a sweet potato or something and smush it up ... you might ease her into chunkier stuff that way. You can also mush up an avocado or a banana and mess with the texture that way.

  • just letting you know that I'm having the same issues.  She gags as soon as she feels anything lumpy.  She is also not interested in picking up food and putting it in her mouth.
