Every year for halloween my parents have everyone (myself and my two brothers and our spouses) over to their house for trick or treating and family dinner. This year, my brother and his wife (who are coming in from out of town) want to invite all their friends and their friends' children. This would be probably 5-6 couples and 6-8 small children. My mother suggested to him that that might not be wise considering that our daughter (who was born at 26 weeks) won't be a year old yet and we're still being cautious about exposing her to other children and, of course, germs.
My brother is giving me a really hard time about it and calling me a "bubble mother" but honestly, it's going to be RSV season and I'm worried about her being around that many children. She'll be 9 months actual age, 6 months adjusted when this party takes place. What do you think? Should I give them the go ahead to invite all those people?
Re: what would you do?
Agree.
No way in hell.
Your brother is welcome to kiss my rear.
My Blog
i would probably go, but DS is in daycare FT, so he's already exposed to a bunch, he was born at 32w6d, and we've never had a lot of lung problems. if i had an earlier preemie, i would definitely have a different perspective.
your brother is being a butt.
Exactly. RSV is nothing to play with.
Thank you!! You've all confirmed what my gut was telling me which was 1) I shouldn't mess around with the possibility of RSV and 2) My brother's a butt.
Thanks, mamas!
Absolutely not, and your brother is a donkey's arse.
If you'd like to send me an email at leslie dot ruhno at gmail, I'd be happy to send you a file that I've shared with my family to set things straight about RSV...the cold hard truth.
