Help me with BG ammonia problem

I have an ammonia problem with our BG.  I don't know what the problem is exactly, so I'm open to trying any ideas you have.  We use several different kinds of diapers, and the BG are the only ones that we have the issue with.  We primarily use them for nights.

I wash every other day.  The stink when she's wearing them, not after sitting in the pail.  Some are new, some are old, and it seems like they all stink equally bad.  I've started rinsing the diapers out in the morning and it doesn't really help.  I have the BG stink spray (not sure what it is called.)

How would I know if I have hard water?  I do a cold wash, hot (cold rinse) wash, and another cold cycle for additional rinse.  I use Tiny Bubbles.

  • is it your microfiber that stinks mainly? that happens a lot. have you tried washing the inserts only and adding a little bleach like BG recommends?

  • I haven't tried that.  Thanks!

  • do you use vinegar in your wash routine?  I add about 1/4 of vinegar to my initial cold rinse every time I wash and it keeps the ammonia stink down (HE washer).  I've never done it, but I've heard if it's really a problem you can do a vinegar/water soak overnight to get the ammonia out.
