dumb question about teeth

I know there are molars that come in around 2 years of age. Are there molars at 3?

Re: dumb question about teeth

  • This is what I found for an answer.

"The first molars that children get are called "pre-molars" and they come through at around 24 months of age. They are baby teeth and will eventually fall out to be replaced by adult teeth. The first 'adult' molars come through at around 6years of age, the next lot at about 12yrs & the last lot (if they make it past the gum line) are the wisdom teeth which come between the ages of 17 - 21 generally."

  • i used to think there were, bc i had heard moms mention 3-year molars before...

BUT at maddy's dentist appointment, when she was 2.5, the dr. said she had all her teeth already.

  • There are two sets of molars. The first usually comes in around 1 and the second around 2.  It's possible for them to come in later though which could put it close to 3 for the second set.
  • Harmony sent me a link. I counted teeth and she's missing her last set of molars. Good to have an explanation for the cranky from her.
